What is happening to Crompton Place Bolton?

Currently, Crompton Place Bolton is under construction. This was heard by over 200 people representing local Boltonian businesses. Regeneration is a core part of the town’s plan and many individuals are excitedly anticipating the new changes.

Dan uk/local/hyde/">Hyde, the Regional Development Director has stated about the arriving developments arising. Hyde confidently declared

“Regardless of where you regenerate, I think it’s very important to develop fora place, rather than just ina place. The connectivity to the rest of Bolton is going to be so important so that it sets the stage to carry on transforming the town centre and fulfil the council’s ambitions.”

The core of Bolton’s regeneration, Crompton Place, reportedly has ambitious and electrifying plans. It is a part of a larger plan to grow Bolton town for its inhabitants. In 2018,  the opportunity to enhance the 280,000 square ft site was pushed forward. One of its aims is to: unite people together, develop streets and to support population growth.  This enhancement would include 340 new properties, a hotel and vast leisure space. Alongside this, it will also increase employment and entertainment to local lives.

The Leader of Bolton Council, Nick Peel has voiced his opinions about the plans and how this connects local businesses. Peel said

“I think it speaks volumes that one of the first things we decided to do as a partnership was to come together and speak directly to the business leaders, employers and investors who know Bolton so well. Today shows that this is a developer that is investing in Bolton – in every sense.”

Crompton palace will be the centre of community and society. All these plans are promising and hopeful to Bolton’s future. It is almost certain that this would benefit the public sector to the borough and local areas to the North West.

What recent developments have occurred to the library?

Bolton’s town library has faced electrifying adaptation plans. This has led the library to achieve ‘the Regeneration and Conservation Award’ at the North West Regional Construction Awards 2025.

Constructed in the 1930s, the library is attached to the museum and an aquarium. This is a local hotspot for Boltonians. Some adaptations have occurred to the public spot. The renovations included developments to: the children’s area, improved digital services and a new food location.  The new cafe space is acting as a growing hub for visitors.

Recently the deputy leader of Bolton Council, Akhtar Zaman, has spoken about the late award and the positive effects of the adaptations. Zaman stated

“Regeneration is not just about bricks and mortar, it is about improving the lives of our residents by offering better services, experiences, and opportunities.”

What other plans are occurring in Bolton?

Bolton’s long-vacant Church Wharf site is scheduled for a renovation. Planning permission granted by Bolton Council, allowed developer Watson to make this tangible. The transformation will bring: 415 homes, a 130 room hotel plus 7.5 acres of commercial space.

This will not only increase affordable housing but will include employment opportunities, especially in hospitality. The structure will provide more restaurants, shops and public centres to benefit locals. Alongside Bolton’s other plans, this renovation will aid the town to flourish for its residents and visitors. In prediction, it will give up to 1,500 jobs and attract 1,000 inhabitants.

What does this mean for Bolton?

Currently, Bolton is growing and developing ambitions to transform the lives around them. From the appearance of the town, to lifestyle, the town is planned to have numerous changes. These plans will help Bolton prosper financially and economically.
