Bolton (Manchester Mirror) September 14, 2026 – A £1bn health-led regeneration project in Bolton has moved a step closer after seven partner organisations signed a landmark agreement to deliver the scheme. Health Innovation Bolton (HIB) will create 200,000 sq m of employment, research and health space alongside more than 2,000 new homes on a 700-acre site. The project is expected to generate 4,500 direct jobs once operational, with 2,300 of those positions earmarked for Bolton residents.

Who are the partners behind Health Innovation Bolton?

The partnership agreement, signed by Bolton Council, Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Estates, Peel Land, The University of Greater Manchester, Bolton College and facilities management business iFM, expands on a previous 2021 agreement.
